Purchasing Options and Deadlines
Order Online
Ordering: Order online for home delivery at collegegrad.herffjones.com (search specifically Buffalo State).*
Prices: All prices include sales tax. Shipping costs will be added to online orders.
Shipping: Online orders will be shipped the week before commencement and will arrive before May 15th.
- March 25 through midnight, April 23 (EST) with regular shipping charge of $14.90.
- April 24 through midnight, May 4 (EST) with rush shipping charge of $21.30
For Out-of-Town Graduates Only: Picking up Regalia and Guest Ticket Assistance
Out-of-town graduates only (i.e., currently living outside the Western New York region) may email commence@buffalostate.edu for assistance with obtaining your regalia and picking up your guest tickets.
*No online orders after May 4.
Purchase in the Bookstore
- In-Person, from April 11–May 17 during regular store hours.
- Bookstore hours: Monday‒Thursday: 8:30 a.m.‒4:00 p.m., Friday: 8:30 a.m.‒3:00 p.m., Saturday‒Sunday: Closed.
- No shipping charges. Purchase (cash, credit, Barnes & Noble gift card) and carry.
- Graduation accessories and gifts also available for purchase.

You must be academically eligible to purchase the Gold Honors Cord. Bachelor's degree candidates who academically qualify to purchase and wear the gold honors cord at commencement and who applied for their degree with the Registrar's Office by the appropriate deadlines will receive congratulatory letters from Interim Provost Amitra Wall notifying them of their eligibility. Students who receive the Honors Convocation e-mail are not necessarily eligible for the gold honors cord at commencement. These two honors are distinct and separate. See Honors Convocation.

Selecting the Correct Garb
Be sure to select the correct garb for the degree and/or certificate you are earning.
Graduate Certificate Only
- Bachelor's gown (purchase the Buffalo State bachelor's student package, or wear a plain black bachelor's gown-plain long sleeves/square cuff).
- Black mortar board with tassel.
- Purchase the graduate certificate orange/white braided cord.
Graduate Certificate Concurrent with Master's Degree
- Buffalo State master's cap and gown package.
- Master's hood in appropriate color.
- Graduate Certificate orange/white braided cord.
Master’s Degree Only
- Buffalo State master's cap and gown package.
- Master's hood in appropriate color.
Master's Degree with C.A.S., or C.A.S. Only
