Student recognition is at the very heart of our Commencement celebration for you, our graduates. The program booklet will list the names of December 2018 and January 2019 graduates and May and August 2019 degree candidates (who apply for their degrees by the appropriate deadlines). The 147th Buffalo State Commencement ceremonies emphasize and acknowledge student achievement. The recipients of the President's Medal for Outstanding Student represent their graduating class and deliver the Student Address at their ceremonies.

The Current Student Awards page recognizes the recipients of a variety of student awards that are also printed in the Commencement booklet. Further, the page recognizes finalists of our top student awards and also lists several departmental award recipients that were not available at time of printing.
The Previous Award Recipients page provides and archive of student awards recognized annually at Commencement and throughout the year, SUNY honorary degree recipients honored at Commencement, alumni and community awards presented at Commencement and throughout the year, and faculty and staff awards presented throughout the year.
The Student Leadership Awards Ceremony program lists academic/service leadership and humanitarian awards presented to graduating seniors and underclassmen during the academic year. This event is sponsored by Student Affairs. Nomination materials for the Student Leadership and Humanitarian Awards are due Friday, February 14, 2020.
